Welcome Picnic (and the Cruise to it!) on Friday Night
We will once again host the pre-show picnic for friends, family and show participants at the Hermans’ home in Harwood – 125 Brooktree Ct. We strongly encourage you to meet up with Brian at Bonanzaville USA for the cruise to the pre-show gathering. Lineup starts at 4:30 and the cruise leaves at 5. The more VWs, the cooler pictures and video we can get! (We promise the route won’t be on miles of gravel this year!) Just meet with Brian by 5 at Bonanzaville and cruise on up with all the other VWs!
The picnic will run from about 5:30 to 8ish. It will be a potluck, so please bring a dish to share. We will have some beverages available but BYOB if you’re specific. Don’t miss it! It’s a great way to get acquainted to our club, especially if you’re new.
What to Expect at the Show
Bring your own camp chairs and spend an awesome day on the green grass surrounded by Volkwagens of all ages and makes. Reconnect with old friends and make new ones. We’ll have:
- Raffle, silent auction, and door prizes
- Games – including Hot Wheels Racing for the kids!
- Shirts for sale with custom design options
- Food trucks: Lupe’s Tacos and Alex’s Ice Cream
Raffle Tickets are on Sale!
Enter to win this custom Volkswagen bench, donated by club members Lloyd and Claudia! Lloyd hand-crafted this bench using the original unrestored tailgate of a VW Rabbit pickup truck. It’ll look great at your place! It will be on display during the show, and the drawing will take place in the mid-afternoon. Pre-buy tickets here! You can also buy them at the show.
Ticket-holder or a representative (friend, etc) must be present to win and must be able to arrange transportation of the bench from our showgrounds on July 27.
If You’re Showing a Car/Cars:
You can enter as many Volkswagens as you would like. If you’re showing a car/cars, please do not arrive until 9:00 at the earliest. We park the cars by type as best we can, so please listen to the parking volunteer on where to park, and do the best you can on parking even/straight next to your neighbors. A general parking map is below. Once parked you can find our registration tent and get signed up/collect your goodie bag and dash signage. If you have more than one car, or a club that wants to park together, just let us know. We’re not that strict.
There is limited trailer parking in the area. If you’re at a hotel in walking distance, please see if you can leave your trailer there for the day. We also will have some parking to the NW in the parking lot behind the tall building with the blue windows. We prefer you not park on the show grounds unless there’s no other place you can.
It’s going to be HOT this year. Do not forget your sunscreen and plenty of water and ice/cooler. We will have some free water on site also. If you have a canopy/tent, we strongly suggest bringing it. Looks like it will also be windy, so anything light you are displaying with your vehicle needs to be weighed or tied/taped down well so it doesn’t go rogue and start a new adventure in another county.
There will be awards (Top 10) as well as a Murphy’s Law trophy given. Save your sob stories and win the big award. A prize for longest distance traveled will also be given.
Accommodations
The Mainstays is right next to the show location. A room block is available. Please call and mention RRVWC. King suites for $149 or Queen suites for $159. We get a good break on these rooms, so we would really appreciate you using the block instead of other services to book it. Several of us have stayed here before and it’s really nice. Suites with fridge freezer, etc.
The Fargo/Moorhead area does also offer various campgrounds.
Rules and Requests:
- No scooters, skateboards, skates, bikes, rollerskates, or other recreational wheels allowed in the show area for kids or adults. Leave it at home.
- Do not ever touch or climb into any car without permission from its owner. Not yours, hands (and elbows and butts and anything else) off!
- If you carry a large tote bag, handbag, backpack, keys/phone on a lanyard, etc., keep it close so it won’t drag along a car as you look.
- Keep track of children. We love and welcome kids but we do not love sticky fingers or scratches and dents on our VWs.
- Pets must be leashed and well-behaved.
- Please find a volunteer and donate! Our club uses donations like yours to run events like this!
- Clean up after yourself. There is garbage and recycling available around the venue.
- Be courteous while inside the Visitors’ Center; we’re their guests and we like to leave a good impression.
- Have Covid or some other nasty “bug”? Keep that at home 😉
